Improving My Communication Through BUS 265
Prior to this class, I approached communication, writing, or presenting by starting with a main idea and outlining three supporting points. I’d research each point, then add extra “fluff” like transitions and details to make it sound complete. My goal was usually just to fill space or meet a word count. Since taking this class, my approach has changed. I now use the 3x3 writing process, which helps me plan, draft, and revise more intentionally. I think more about my audience, tone, and purpose. I focus on organizing ideas clearly from the start and editing for clarity and professionalism. I also feel more confident presenting my work and understand how to adapt messages depending on who I’m speaking or writing to. This class has definitely made me a stronger communicator overall.
Bus 265 - Business Communication Reflection
​One of the greatest lessons I learned in this course was how important it is to understand your audience when communicating. As someone who runs a beauty business and is also studying computer science, I’ve learned that the way I communicate with clients is very different from how I would talk to a developer or business partner. This class taught me how to adjust my tone and message depending on who I’m speaking to. I also found the 3x3 writing process really helpful .It gave me a structure to organize my ideas more clearly, whether I’m writing a website update, sending emails, or preparing presentations for class. Lastly, I’ve learned how much professionalism matters in both beauty and tech. Clear, respectful communication builds trust with clients and makes me look more credible when working on group projects or presenting ideas in school.
